Euromast

Colourful Rotterdam

The renovated Euroscoop of Rotterdam’s iconic Euromast has been given a sensory experience. Ata Tech took care of the delivery and installation of the audio-visual materials and the complete lighting installation in the Euromast’s lift shaft.

As soon as you enter the Euroscoop, an impressive light and sound show and music by Rotterdam DJ Oliver Heldens whip up visitors for the ride to the top at 185 metres. During the ride you travel to the highest point of the Euromast and see the entire city from a 360-degree perspective. Meanwhile, a voice-over poetically tells about the city and its inhabitants, its colourfulness, diversity and Rotterdam’s special position as a world port in the heart of Europe.

Technical masterpiece

The liftcabin of the Euromast is equipped with a 360 degrees Spatial sound system. This sends the sound through 20 speakers and creates a virtual 3D surround sound effect. Each speaker is individually controlled and provides a unique audio experience that surrounds you, putting you right in the middle of the action.

The lighting system is built up with an impressive pixel-controlled light show on the inside walls of the lift shaft. No fewer than 31,680 DMX channels were used to control the light show and create an immersive experience for the visitor.

The entire show control is timecode-controlled, so that the light – the soundtrack – the voice-over and the movement of the lift all run in exactly the same time. The entire experience can be easily controlled by the lift operator using a touch screen.

With the theme ‘Colourful Rotterdam’, visitors are taken along in the story of the city in which the various and colourful character is emphasised.
